What's New!

Wow!  What an interesting time to do business!  We want to share some recent highlights with you.

In January 2008 we were excited about some new growth opportunities.  Over our 22 years, Coleman Custom Closets never followed the crowd - we always looked for new methods, products, and services to set us apart.  We offer both wire and laminate shelving, send our employees to your home rather than unknown subcontractors, and serve both builders and homeowners.  These are just examples of what we call “the Coleman Difference”.  So, it
should not be a surprise that we decided to expand while competitors pulled back last year.

 2009

  • September – Plan on attending our Wine Tasting & Auction on Sat., Sept. 19.  Proceeds benefit the Fox Valley Special Recreation Association and Special Olympics of Illinois.
  • May – We enjoyed our first Cruise Night sponsored by our neighbors, A & W!  Future dates are 6/6, 6/20, 7/18, 8/1 and 8/15.  Come visit our showroom and our lot full of cool cars too!
  • March – We add Armadi doors & room dividers just in time for our first (and very successful) Invitation Only Event.
  • February – We introduce new Moen lines of bath fixtures, MirrorScape frames, and Home Care accessories; as well as Richelieu knobs & handles and Rev-A-Shelf cabinet inserts.

2008

  • November - After 21 years in Geneva, Coleman moves to North Aurora.  The good news - we acquired space attached to our warehouse and our landlord has been awesome. The bad news - the space was formerly a pool hall that we had to gut.  In addition to new closet displays, we built a two car garage and a Storm Room right in the showroom.  Now the Coleman Team is together to better serve homeowners and partner builders…and with openings in the plaza, we’re looking for great new neighbors!
Come see our new space at 111 S. Lincolnway (Rt 31), North Aurora – behind A&W!
  • October – Introducing Stables & Barns organization.  Tack Organization is a real challenge that we are uniquely positioned to solve here in Kane, McHenry and DeKalb County.
  • August – The beginning of our joint agreement with Schroeder Enterprises out of Lake Geneva, WI.  We now offer a broadcast floor coating that is tougher, more flexible and “greener” than epoxy.  In addition, it can often be completed in just one day.
  • July – Launch of our golf outings sponsorship.  Try to hit your ball over the Wayne-Dalton garage door set up on the tee box.  Anyone who dents the door has to sign their name to it.  Come see our “Door of Shame” in the showroom.
  • March – We add garage doors and openers to our builder product line.  This move led to adding Scot Peters to the team, whose family has run a garage door business for 25+ years.
  • February – Our successful partnering with over 150 builders is the cover story in a national trade publication - CLOSETS MAGAZINE.  Our builders rely on us to organize their homes, giving them a visible edge in the market.
  • February - We acquire Custom Space Crafters in Cortland.  Tim Coleman and Steve Wicks have been friendly competitors for much of our 20+ years in business.  This gives us an expanded presence in the DeKalb-Sycamore area.
  • January – DuPont® selects Coleman as exclusive Illinois Certified Installer for their tornado saferoom - StormRoom™.  Flying debris is the primary cause of storm fatalities. DuPont protects your family using the same Kevlar™ they use in bulletproof vests.  When installed properly, the Kevlar lined wall-panel system will not be penetrated, blown away or crushed.

As you can see, a lot has been going on here and we felt the name “Coleman Custom Closets” just didn’t represent all of the products and services we can offer you.  So in November we officially changed our name to Coleman Home Solutions.  Now, our Mission Statement is easy, just look at our name.  Have a problem in your home – we’ve got the solution.

And we have more excitement planned, with highlights including Pet Organization, Mail Boxes & Posts, and expanded retail offerings.

Of course there are challenges with the slow down in new construction.  Although our focus is not the big production builders who got hit hardest by the slowdown, our 200+ partner builders went from building 10 houses a year to just 2 or 3.  Gas prices, the banking and credit crisis, a stock market tumble, and people concerned about jobs all present challenges.  We’re not sure it was lucky or wise, but rather than pull back like so many others, we continue to invest in the build-out of the showroom and new product development.  Working with a local bank with local interests is critical in these challenging times, and First Choice Bank in Geneva continues to support our growth plan.

So, with new products, a new showroom, a plan for moving forward, and experienced designers and installers, we are positioned to help you find solutions around YOUR home.
